01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Some diners particularly remember the red-vinegar sushi at Le Temps’s buffet. At dinner, there is pleasure in choosing a little of this and that from the Japanese and Western dishes, with sushi and roast beef among the highlights. Diners who have visited more than once mention golden-eye snapper and striped jack as sushi toppings; another visitor was especially taken with the tempura. And, as with any buffet, there is the familiar tussle between wanting another helping and feeling full. Rather than deciding in advance what to eat, you might first see what’s on offer at the sushi and tempura stations, then choose your next plate.

One visitor praised the roast beef for being so tender it was “almost as if it didn’t need a knife”. Another said it was tender and mild in flavour at breakfast, and recommended eating it with salt. At the dinner buffet, some diners enjoyed it with a sauce made with yuzu from Mizuo. The different meal periods offer their own ways to enjoy the dish.

Breakfast includes a generous selection of Japanese sides as well as Western fare. The dashimaki tamago, a Japanese rolled omelette, is warmed in broth; one diner described it as fluffy, with the flavour of the broth well absorbed. Salt-cured squid was also praised as a pleasantly seasoned dish that goes well with rice. For bread, there is a crisp croissant with distinct, visible layers. One visitor came specifically looking forward to its buttery flavour.

Something sweet is another part of the buffet’s appeal. Some diners found the individual cakes generously sized and enjoyed choosing from the different flavours. Others said there was so much food to try that they never made it back for a second helping of dessert. Whether to make room for sweets or focus on sushi and meat dishes is a decision worth considering early; planning a little can make choosing all the more enjoyable.

One diner celebrating a birthday was delighted by the cocktail served with their plate. They reported that it was non-alcoholic and suitable for children to drink, adding a festive touch to the occasion. This hotel restaurant offers meals from breakfast through dinner, and also serves halal menu items.
